She said: 'I think the idea really was to say to the universe, 'I am open to dating.' Everybody talks about that, "You have to do gestures to the universe to make things happen to you."
'And so that was mine; I'll go on a dating app and that will universally say that I am open to dating, I'm willing, right? Although I don't think I ever really thought that was going to be the direction that was going to work out for me. But I also didn't think that one day I would go to open the app on my phone and I would be blocked!'
The star went on to explain that she thinks her account was blocked so quickly because no one believed it was really her.
She said: 'I think what happened, when I was on the app, there would be people that would say either, "This can't possibly be Teri Hatcher. What would she be doing on this app?"
'Or they would say, "Hey, you want to go out on a date with me?" And then when I wouldn't, I think maybe they got mad that I didn't respond. And so I think collectively, those people must have alerted Hinge that somebody was pretending to be me.'
'But that whole era is over now. Now I'm still not dating, but I'm also not on any apps!'

Shesaid: 'When you get kicked off it's not that you get an email, you just get blocked. And the only recourse I had was to go on Twitter and ask Hinge through that. So they got back to me and put me back on.'
Teri said Matthew texted her at the time to share his experience on the dating app too.
She said: 'He and I kept in touch periodically after I got to work with him in The Odd Couple, years ago. And that was really funny.
'We would kind of check-in once or twice a year.we had that kind of text relationship so when I tweeted, he immediately tweeted me saying: 'I got kicked off of Hinge too, what the hell are both of us doing on Hinge, anyway?'
Matthew tragically died in November aged 54 after a ketamine overdose.
Teri was married twice before; to Marcus Leithold from 1988-1989, and later to Jon Tenney from 1994-2003.
